Liminal Hell, 2025-Current (in progress)

The rupture of motherhood made space for a completely new self to emerge. “Liminal Hell" confronts a fractured past caused by generational violence and visualizes a psychological journey from mind/body disconnect toward embodiment. In peeling back the layers, shedding skin, and self-honesty, the artist was able to evolve through the stages of denial, awareness, acceptance, and change. This healing journey enabled the artist to break the cycle of generational domestic violence. The artist employs performance, still life, self-portraits, and abstract imagery to express the healing journey from an interior and psychological perspective. This project contrasts the darkness in juxtaposition to glimmers of hope during the transition from the wife who tolerated abuse to the mother who is liberated and unapologetically pursuing peace.
